As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and good luck. The goal is to shift your checkers safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move her pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to completely stop any activity of the opponent by creating a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if she at all tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. As soon as you have successfully built the prime to block the movement of the competitor, your competitor doesn't even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and roll the dice again. You'll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are similar - to hinder your opponent's positions hoping to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic relies on seperate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is commonly utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more difficult than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
