The aim of a Backgammon game is to shift your chips around the game board and bear them from the board quicker than your competitor who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a round in Backgammon requires both tactics and fortune. Just how far you can move your chips is left to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and just how you shift your checkers are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Players use a few strategies in the differing stages of a game dependent on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Strategy

The goal of the Running Game plan is to bring all your pieces into your home board and get them off as quick as you could. This technique concentrates on the speed of shifting your pieces with little or no time spent to hit or stop your competitor's chips. The best scenario to employ this strategy is when you believe you might be able to shift your own chips quicker than your opposition does: when 1) you have less checkers on the board; 2) all your chips have moved beyond your opponent's pieces; or 3) your opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The primary goal of the blocking plan, by its title, is to block the competitor's pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your pieces quickly. As soon as you've created the blockage for your competitor's movement with a few chips, you can move your other checkers swiftly from the board. You really should also have a good plan when to extract and move the pieces that you used for the blockade. The game becomes intriguing when the opponent uses the same blocking technique.
