As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to shift your pieces carefully around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent moves their pieces toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player checkers moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move his chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely stop any movement of the opponent by building a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's chips will either get hit, or result a battered position if he ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your game board. Once you've successfully built the prime to block the activity of the competitor, your opponent does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You'll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are similar - to hurt your competitor's positions hoping to boost your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game plan utilizes alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
