As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to move your pieces carefully around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at specific instances. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift his pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's checkers will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point eleven in your game board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the activity of the opponent, your opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are very similar - to hurt your competitor's positions with hope to better your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game technique utilizes alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is commonly used when you're far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
