The goal of a Backgammon match is to shift your chips around the game board and bear those pieces from the game board quicker than your opposing player who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game in Backgammon needsrequires both tactics and fortune. How far you will be able to shift your checkers is left to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you move your checkers are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Players use different strategies in the differing stages of a match based on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Tactic

The aim of the Running Game tactic is to lure all your checkers into your home board and get them off as quickly as you could. This plan concentrates on the speed of advancing your pieces with little or no time spent to hit or block your opponent's pieces. The ideal scenario to use this tactic is when you believe you might be able to shift your own chips quicker than your opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the game board; 2) all your checkers have past your opponent's pieces; or 3) your opposing player doesn't use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Technique

The primary goal of the blocking plan, by its name, is to stop the competitor's pieces, temporarily, while not fretting about moving your checkers quickly. After you've established the barrier for the opponent's movement with a couple of pieces, you can move your other pieces rapidly off the board. The player really should also have an apparent plan when to back off and shift the chips that you employed for the blockade. The game gets interesting when your competitor uses the same blocking technique.
