The objective of a Backgammon game is to shift your checkers around the game board and get them off the board quicker than your opposing player who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and fortune. How far you will be able to shift your pieces is left to the numbers from tossing the dice, and how you move your chips are decided on by your overall playing techniques. Players use a few plans in the different stages of a match based on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Plan

The aim of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your checkers into your inner board and bear them off as quick as you can. This strategy focuses on the speed of advancing your chips with little or no efforts to hit or stop your opponent's chips. The best time to use this technique is when you think you might be able to shift your own checkers faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer checkers on the board; 2) all your pieces have past your opponent's chips; or 3) the opponent does not employ the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The primary goal of the blocking tactic, by its name, is to stop the competitor's pieces, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your checkers rapidly. After you've established the blockade for your competitor's movement with a couple of pieces, you can move your other chips quickly from the game board. You really should also have an apparent plan when to withdraw and shift the pieces that you employed for blocking. The game gets interesting when your opponent uses the same blocking technique.
