The objective of a Backgammon game is to shift your checkers around the game board and get those pieces from the game board faster than your opposing player who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and good luck. Just how far you can shift your checkers is up to the numbers from tossing the dice, and just how you shift your pieces are decided on by your overall gambling plans. Players use differing strategies in the different parts of a game dependent on your positions and opponent's.

The Running Game Plan

The aim of the Running Game plan is to entice all your checkers into your inner board and bear them off as fast as you can. This strategy concentrates on the speed of advancing your checkers with absolutely no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent's pieces. The best time to use this strategy is when you believe you might be able to shift your own checkers quicker than the opponent does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your opponent's checkers; or 3) the opposing player doesn't use the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The primary aim of the blocking tactic, by its title, is to block the opponent's chips, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your checkers quickly. As soon as you've created the barrier for the competitor's movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other checkers rapidly off the game board. You will need to also have a clear strategy when to extract and move the chips that you utilized for blocking. The game becomes interesting when the competitor uses the same blocking tactic.
