As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to shift your checkers safely around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific strategies at specific instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift his checkers, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opposing player by building a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor's pieces will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. After you've successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of your opponent, the opponent doesn't even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game plan are similar - to hinder your opponent's positions hoping to boost your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic relies on alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is generally employed when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
