As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The aim is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon techniques to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to move her pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opponent by creating a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor's checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a battered position if he/she ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. After you've successfully built the prime to block the movement of your competitor, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are similar - to hurt your opponent's positions with hope to improve your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy relies on alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is often used when you're far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
