As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and pure luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift his pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opponent by building a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent's chips will either get hit, or result a battered position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point eleven in your board. After you've successfully constructed the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar - to harm your competitor's positions hoping to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic relies on seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is frequently used when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your chips and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
