As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to move your chips carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific instances. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely block any movement of the opponent by building a prime - ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor's checkers will either get bumped, or result a battered position if he/she ever tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you have successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of the competitor, your opponent doesn't even get to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You'll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are very similar - to hinder your opponent's positions with hope to better your odds of winning, however the Back Game tactic utilizes alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is often employed when you're far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
